Frequently Asked Questions
Who operates the pool?
The seasonal passholder pool is operated by Physique Swimming in partnership with Riverdale Neighborhood House.
Physique Swimming manages:
- Season passes and passholder accounts
- Daily passholder check-in
- Guest access and guest credits
- Pool staffing and lifeguards
- Physique Swimming lessons and aquatic programs
- Pool communications, schedules, and operational updates
Is Community Thursday operated by Physique Swimming?
No. Community Thursday is an RNH program and is managed directly by Riverdale Neighborhood House.
A limited number of Community Thursday day passes are released through the RNH website each Monday at 1:00 PM for that Thursday. Registration, payment, confirmation emails, availability, cancellations, and questions about Community Thursday must be handled directly by RNH.
Community Thursday registration is available through riverdaleonline.org/pool. Questions may be sent to [email protected]. (RNH)
Physique Swimming cannot register someone for Community Thursday, locate an RNH registration, resend an RNH confirmation, accept payment for the program, or add someone after tickets have sold out.
Are Community Thursday passes the same as season passes?
No. They are separate forms of pool access.
A Physique Swimming season pass provides access during regular passholder hours throughout the season, subject to the pass terms and pool policies.
A Community Thursday pass is a limited, date-specific pass purchased directly through RNH. It does not create a Physique Swimming account or provide access on other days.
Who runs swim lessons at RNH?
Both RNH and Physique Swimming may offer aquatic programming, but the programs and registration systems are separate.
Before contacting either organization, please check which organization appears on your registration confirmation or payment receipt.
For a Physique Swimming lesson, contact Physique Swimming.
For an RNH program, registration, payment, scheduling, and program questions must be directed to Riverdale Neighborhood House.
Registering for one organization’s program does not automatically enroll a swimmer in the other organization’s program.

May I arrive before the pool opens to reserve a table or lounge chair?
No. Please do not arrive before opening to save tables, lounge chairs, or other seating.
Guests may enter only during posted pool hours, when staff members are available to complete check-in. Personal belongings may not be placed inside the facility before opening to reserve a space.
Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Do passholders have to check in every time they visit?
Yes. Every passholder and guest must check in at the front desk upon arrival.
Please do not walk past the front desk or enter through another area without checking in. Check-in helps us confirm authorized access, maintain accurate attendance information, and keep the facility safe.
May my guests enter without me?
No. A passholder from the household account must be present when guests enter and must remain responsible for them during the visit.
Guests may not arrive on their own and use a passholder’s name, membership, Splash Card, or account to enter. Passholders should not send relatives, friends, caregivers, or other visitors to the pool without an eligible household passholder present.
How many guests may I bring?
There is not currently a set guest limit for ordinary visits, but all guests must be properly checked in and paid for using the appropriate guest credits.
Guest access remains subject to:
- Facility capacity
- Available seating and space
- Safety considerations
- Special events or unusually busy conditions
- Compliance with pool rules
If you are planning to bring more than 10 guests, the visit may be considered a party or group gathering. Please notify us in advance so we can plan accordingly and, when available, help accommodate your group in an appropriate area.
Physique Swimming reserves the right to limit or pause guest entry when necessary to protect the safety and comfort of passholders, staff, and other visitors
What are the guest rates?
Guest credits are charged according to the guest’s category:
Adults: $20
Children and seniors: $10
All guests must be checked in under the account of the passholder accompanying them.
Is the pool open when it rains? / What happens during thunder or lightning?
The pool is generally open rain or shine. Rain by itself does not necessarily require the pool to close.
Passholders should assume the pool is open during its regular hours unless Physique Swimming communicates a closure or schedule change.
Conditions can change quickly, so the pool may temporarily suspend swimming or close early when weather creates an unsafe environment.
Swimming and outdoor activity will be suspended when thunder or lightning creates an unsafe condition.
Guests may be required to exit the water, clear the pool deck, or temporarily leave the outdoor premises as directed by staff. Everyone must follow lifeguard and management instructions immediately.
A weather evacuation does not always mean the pool is closed for the remainder of the day. The pool may reopen after the required safety period if conditions improve. If unsafe conditions continue, the pool may remain closed.
What happens when the air quality is unhealthy?
Riverdale Neighborhood House policy requires outdoor activities to be suspended or moved indoors when the Air Quality Index reaches 150 or higher.
Because the pool is outdoors, Physique Swimming may temporarily close the pool and move staff indoors when the AQI reaches that level. The pool may reopen later if conditions improve, or it may remain closed if unsafe air quality continues.
When air quality is elevated but remains below the closure threshold, operations may be adjusted. This can include:
- Staff rotations and additional indoor breaks
- Reduced prolonged outdoor activity
- Limited services or programming
- Recommendations that visitors take frequent breaks
- Additional precautions for children and other sensitive individuals
Passholders should monitor local air-quality conditions and use their own judgment when deciding whether to visit.
Physique Swimming and Riverdale Neighborhood House must consider the conditions at this specific facility, applicable RNH policies, available staffing, and the health and safety of employees and visitors. Another pool remaining open does not override the safety decisions or policies governing the RNH pool.
Will passholders be compensated for weather or safety closures?
Season passes provide access throughout the season during available operating hours, but they do not guarantee that the pool will remain open every day or for every scheduled hour.
The pool may temporarily close, open late, close early, or adjust services because of weather, thunder or lightning, poor air quality, maintenance, emergencies, staffing safety, or other unsafe conditions. These safety-related operational changes do not ordinarily result in refunds or prorated compensation.

Is a lap lane always available during regular pool hours?
We try to maintain a designated lap lane whenever possible. However, the availability of the lap lane may temporarily change based on swim lessons, programming, attendance, or other operational needs.
Physique Swimming lessons are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from approximately 3:00–5:00 PM. During this time, the designated lap lane may be temporarily closed or shared to provide enough space for lessons.
Lap swimmers may still be able to swim in another available section of the pool or share the lane when space permits. Anyone swimming near an active lesson must be respectful of the instructors and students, avoid interfering with the class, and follow all staff directions.
A designated lap lane is not guaranteed at every moment during general pool hours.
Do I need to reserve a barbecue grill?
No. The pool has three barbecue grills, and they are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Passholders must bring their own charcoal and grilling supplies.
The grills close approximately 45 minutes to one hour before the facility closes so staff have enough time to safely cool and clean the area. Please plan accordingly and do not begin grilling close to closing time.
Grills and surrounding areas must be left clean, and all staff instructions must be followed.
